Early Career and Transition

Born in Aldershot on 6th April 1983, James Martin Wade, popularly known as "The Machine", began his darting journey with the BDO. Notably, he never won a major title there. In 2004, he made a strategic switch to the PDC, finding his stride by winning the World Matchplay in 2007.

Major Achievements

By 2023, James amassed eleven major PDC titles, making him the third-most successful player in PDC history, trailing only Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen. In 2006, he made headlines by becoming the first to score three 9-darters in one calendar year, earning him the PDC Young Player of the Year accolade.

Challenges and Comebacks

Wade's career saw both challenges and comebacks. In 2014, he took a hiatus from the Premier League Darts, primarily due to concerns related to his bipolar disorder. Nevertheless, he returned stronger, bagging several titles in subsequent years, including the European Darts Championship and World Series of Darts Finals in 2018.

Recent Achievements

In 2021, James secured his third UK Open title, followed by a remarkable performance in the Premier League of Darts in 2022, where he recorded his career's highest average. The same year, he clinched the Players Championship 30 title, showcasing his enduring prowess in the sport.
